Travel Advice and Injections

When leaving the UK, be it for business or pleasure, you should be aware that not all vaccinations are free on the NHS. There are also other issues patients should consider. For example a diabetic person may want to take their medication onto a plane; such medication often includes a needle. However many couriers require a letter from your GP to permit this course of action while others completely refuse such a request.

With effect from 1st June 2010 and to provide a better service to our patients we have introduced a form which will be reviewed by a member of our nursing team ahead of their appointment. Where people are travelling together one form can be completed for the group. The form is on the link below but is also available in the Surgery; patients may prefer to telephone the surgery and speak to a receptionist who can complete it on your behalf.

Once the form has been reviewed, we will contact you with the current advice regarding the areas you wish to visit. Within a family or group of travellers the specific advice may vary from patient to patient dependent on their personal medical histories. We will also tell you if any recommended vaccinations or other services incur charges then, when appropriate, invite you to book your Click to download our travel advice questionnaire - PDF travel injection appointment(s).

Please be assured that no fee will be chargeable until you have agreed them in advance. Due to Bank charges we are not able to take debit or credit cards (such as VISA or Mastercard) for payment, but can take cash or cheques supported by a cheque guarantee card.

If you have any query regarding this service please telephone the surgery on 023 9282 7132 or speak to a receptionist.
